The awful truth is that you can fall further. I had severe depression and just when I thought it could not get worse...it did...and took me to a place in my head that I didn't know existed, people would often say the only way is up and I'd just smile 'cos I knew different.

Surely the reason somebody is down is because they fear that fall whereas if they felt no fear then they wouldn't be down.

People with no fear don't ask "what if?" and people who fear will wonder what if instead of getting on with it.

I disagree with this statement; I believe we can fall further - this depends on the context of the use of 'down'.

i agree with the majority of people here that the fall can be endless.
We can continue to fall, but it is never too late grab hold of a rope and climb slowly back up.

I disagree

You can fall further - and if you are unlucky it can result in death (through deep anxiety and worry). We all need to find a way of clambering up the ladder of hope - one way of doing this is to concentrate on the positive.

i think that fearing something might happen can be worse than if the thing actually happened. so it can be a relief when it happens and were relieved of our fear. and as long as u belive it cant get any worse i sapose u might be prone to act like u have nothing to lose. ♥

Disagree.
There is always a new bottom to find.
Just ask the england cricket team.
Just when you think they have hit rock bottom the find a new bottom.

Depends on where you may be falling to; in this life, death is the last fall.

You can't fall further, once you've fallen. Unless muddy metaphors are a favourite of yours.
