Some businesses separate the colored and white paper, as it makes it easier for the company that collects the paper; white paper needs less processing for recycling.

All I can tell you is that when I as working, we had a voluntary recycle program and we were told to never put any colored paper in the recycle bin. So I'm not sure.

Yes. I run a printing business and everything except plastic-coated weird stuff is recyclable, and it's all tossed in the same recycling bin.
Check for a different recycler if your current one is picky.
Recycled paper is in terrific demand in China, where paper, it seems, is expensive. (Go figure --- they invented it along with block printing.)

yes, you can. the paper is gonna go thru a chemical process that will bleach it back to white.
