The idea intimidates me, I don't want to be one of the only avarage humans left in a race of supermodels with the IQ of a neuro surgeon. Then again, these thoughts are purely selfish, and surely creating perfect humans would be better for our race in the long run?

no way should DNA be altered to create a "designer baby" but unfortunately in the future it will inevitably happen

1. For today's science it would be very dangerous game to play with children's DNA. We can recognize several diseases, but not "genes for geniality". The relationships between genes are so complicated, that it will take some time to understand them. Super-children are not coming yet.
2. And there are no "best" genes. The winner in one environment is the looser in other circumstances. Gattaca was nonsense.
3. Human being = genes + environment. Baby can have potential for IQ 130, but if his mama don't care about him and don't give him enough love, he can end up as below-average idiot and emotional wreck.
4. "Perfect" human would be no more human :-)

Genetic engineers are presently manuplating the gene technology which importantly includes transplanting foreign genes into individuals so as to develop desired characters in them. may be some day there will be DNA recombinant technology so advanced that DNA of zygote(from which child comes) will be as such changed that desired characters will be introduced in the upcoming child including IQ.

I am agree with DNA correction in case of genetic disease but creation of a super perfect human... it is something evil. Creation is a mistery and not just IQ requet in that case. What about love?

How tall is perfect? Six feet, ten feet, seventeen feet tall? I don't think that unless we all agree on what a perfect human actually is then this is possible.

who would you trust to be the judge of perfection?
the germans tried this in ww2 and you know the result.
if everybody was the same in looks and feelings think how bored you would soon become. life is about variations so why standardise.
