the weather has been below freezing for 2 weeks. The main city sewer line is 20 ft. from my house. Whenever I walk into my laundry room, I smell sewer fumes coming from wash drain. Never had this problem before. Is it the cold weather, plus the closeness of the city sewer to my house? Is something frozen somewhere?

The vents on top of your roof may be clogged. These are the normal method of sewer gass to escape from your system. Have a plumber check them out for you.

you should have a vent, above the roof, on the lndry drain. Clear it. If you dont, you're gonna get a smell
