Needs to be made into a larger holiday...

And make it a day off from school/work so I'll always get my birthday off too. : )

Earth Day should be every day! And, really, a lot more people care than you might think! I don't know how old you are, but the older people and people in 'power' (not counting our "the U.S." stupid president) are stepping up and doing what can be done, or at least beginning to. But, really, the solution to the problem lies with each and every one of us. If 'Earth Day' is only once a year...we are doomed. While it is nice to have a special day to use as a focal point with political rallies, and speeches, etc. it is what we do in and out, every day, that can and must make a difference in our world. If we can rally behind a day where, say, EVERYONE for ONE DAY only walked or rode a bike or rode in non-polluting vehicles...or if for ONE DAY, EVERYONE make an effort to pick up trash they saw and recycled it, or refrained from buying gasoline, or using electricity, etc.... THAT would be an Earth Day worth it's title. But that isn't going to happen, at least not until things get worse ecologically to the point were everyone will be forced to realize that WE are the ones destroying our home, NOT "Natural Forces"...and, unfortunately, that will probably not happen until about the middle of this century when people my age are dead, and my children and grandchildren are in a position to finally do something good for Earth instead of only for the 'bottom line' of economics.

Now is the perfect time to be thinking about Earth Day. Start making plans for what you will do that day. Maybe volunteer at a local recycling center or join a group that is cleaning up a stream or park. If you are going to have flowers or vegetables growing this summer, now is the time to start seeds indoors. I have joined both the National Wildlife Foundation (nwf.org) and the Sierra Club (sierraclub.org) and find their websites an inspiring way to see what others are accomplishing. My husband enjoys his memberships in the Nature Conservancy and Yes magazine. For me, the greatest way to feel hopeful about the environment is to make some contribution to the effort to preserve our earth.

Hello:

I care deeply for the Earth, every day, not just on Earth Day, although I think having a special day is good to get the message across. I try to live and act in such a way as to not be a part of the problem, but part of the solution, instead.

We are killing our planet and we have no other place to go.

The only thing wrong with this planet is us.

Its a shame that most don't care until its to late.
You don't know what you've got till its gone.
We live in a selfish world and alot people believe out of sight out of mind.
I saw a women throw a paper plate with some other garbage out the window of her car while she was driving and I just wanted to chase her down and really tell her off.

I am TOTALLY with you! Seriously! I mean, it seems like no one even cares that what we are doing to the rainforests and coral reefs is Going to happen to us eventually if we dont do somthing! It is soooooo agrivating, and I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way.
