There are several financial obligations for someone looking to use a surrogate as means of creating a family. First of all, you must decide if you are going to use a Traditional Surrogate (child is biologically related to the carrier) or a Gestational Carrier (embryo created outside the womb - genetic relation to you and your spouse or through an egg and/or sperm donor). Not only are there costs associated with the actual cycling, but there are preliminary tests involving you, your partner, and the carrier. Depending on the compensation agreement between you and your carrier, those costs alone (compensation plus all the other incidental fees) can reach upwards of $30,000+.
It is practically impossible to estimate what the total cost would be. If more than one cycle is required to achieve pregnancy, then the costs will be significantly higher. Most parents that created their family through surrogacy will tell you that the overall financial responsibility can reach close to $100,000 for everything.
There are many websites and agencies out there that will help you with any questions you may have... the best one I have found so far is http://www.surromomsonline.com You will find articles, insight, and even a message board community where you can ask and answer questions with intended parents, surrogates, egg donors, and others involved in the surrogacy community.
No matter what you decide, this is an exciting journey. Best of luck to you!

I have a friend who become a surrogate. She did it for a couple she didn't know. She told me once that it was easier to let the child go to someone she wasn't close too but since the birth she's become a very good friend of their families. Often the parents are responsible for covering the cost of medical care and expenses. I don't think there is anything wrong with being compensated for having to carry anothers baby for 9 months. My friend said if you're open enough to do this allow the parents to be there for dr. appts. hospital visits and even the birth. If at all possible don't use your eggs it's would mean sending a part of you away which is difficult to do. It's a noble thing your considering but make sure you get the right couple. One who won't see you as a threat. My friends gift knows her as the person who helped bring her into the world.

Im looking to be a surrogate mother but not realy sure wear to find a nice couple that want a baby. You know a couple that i feel will raise the baby into a good happy adult. if your interrested i would like to speak to you. My number is nine zero seven seven three eight zero one eight four. I have a 7 month old daughter named mary so i know i can give birth with no trouble. If your interrested lets meet for lunch or something and see if it will work out. I had no complications during my pregnancy with my daughter.we used an epidural so i slept through eight hours of labor pains and once my water broke my daughter was born 48 minutes later a healthy 8 pounds 6 ounces.the pregnancy was easy becuz i had no cravings and stayed relatively active throughout though i had to take it easy the last month becuz it got difficult to move.my feet swelled up only once and i just realy feel like it was easy to be pregnant so why not help a couple out that wants the same wonderful feeling of mothering

The cheapest way to have a surrogate mother is to find a willing friend. My mother had her tubes tied about 9 years ago, and her fience and her wanted to have another kid. Last year, one of their best friends became their surrogate mother, using mom's eggs and my stepdad's sperm.. The whole process cost about $8,000 dollars. Extraordinarilly cheaper than finding a career surrogate mother, which could average about $15,000 or more.

First decide what type of surrogate you want...do you want implantation of your own eggs - or do you want it to be a product of surrogate & your mate. So many things to think about...I am sure there are some great websites.
