By exoplanets, I imagine you mean planets beyond our solar system, orbiting other stars.

The atmosphere is not making it difficult; in fact, we can see the Moon and detect other planets during night time.

We cannot see exoplanets because they are very far away and they do not emit light of their own, but reflect their star's light, like the Moon and the rest of the Solar System's planets.
