I have to tell you the truth, if you wear hollister and American eagle then you are a prep. They usually are the small toothpick thin girls!! And to tell you the truth that is not hot, you have no shape and no butt. I mean I am not trying to materialize but the question you asked is a material question. So I am not a prep.
If your too skinny like 15 years old and you weigh 90 lbs. Come on girls what kind of man wants a straw??? Get real!

I dont really think it matters. I mean there are some people who hate them because they are jealous that they cant fit into hollister or ae, and there are some people who just dont like the style. Personally i don't have a problem with them because i occasionally wear a hollister sweatshirt but then again sometimes i wear apple bottom jeans. It just depends on the person. If peple give you a hard time because you call yourself a prep or want to be one, dont give them the time od day because honestly they are lookin at your clothes and not you.

Holly, i completely disagree with your answer. Some girls, like me, cannot help what they weigh, and it hurts them to hear such rude comments on something they cannot help. Getting back on subject, I think girls and guys who wear those clothes are only considered preps because the prices are higher in those brands. Therefore, most of the people who buy those clothes are higher middle class. As a stereotype, other children would think of them as rich snobs, therefore, the "prep" name came along. I do not think people who wear those brands are "preps", but if you would like to call yourself that, then so be it. You're a prep.

Not all people who wear hollister american eagle and abercrombie are preps.I go to shows and i see "scene" kids wearing a band shirt,ae jeans and a hollister hoodie.Its all in the way you wear your clothes or mix and match them.Personally, I'm more into Free people,Urban Iutfitters,band/salvation army shirts and seven for all mankind jeans

I am. I don't think it's fair how people "hate" preps. I mean, its someons choice to be a prep and it shouldn't matter to other people. It's just clothes. Clothes don't make the person and people should get to know someone before they judge them. And I LOVE american eagle, abercrombie and hollister, they have really cute clothes and if you go to them during sales you can get a good deal.

at my school, about 50-75 % of the people wear these brands, including myself. i don't ge why people judge people asmean people or snotty "preps" just becuz they like to wear name brands!! so i guess i am a "prep" cuz i wear them.

American Eagle is my absolute favorite store... so I guess I qualify. :) However, I have a very unique style - I mix preppy, vintage, and European styles to create my own look.
