make her pay for it her self, maybe on loan from you.

this is what my parents did for my brother, they baught a car for $800 over the next few months he has to slowly pay that money back to them. when it is paid off he gets the title to the car.

My parent said "Get A Job", they matched what I made in about a year, which was about $2000. I got a $5000 car, which I then crashed. Hmm, might have thought that one again. This is a chance for responsibility. The crash was not my fault, a lady ran a stop sign and into me. My next car I bought myself and am very proud of. I would have her get a job, if she don't already have one to help with payments and insurance. Remember that your insurance will go up with a new/teen driver.

My son just got his first car. It cost $2800. We paid $1800 and he paid $1000 to start and he is paying us back the rest as he has a part time job. Make sure you get a mechanic to check it out first. My husband is one which helped us. Do not buy anything too cheap as it may need a lot of repairs. If you make your daughter pay some money towards the car she will appreciate and look after it more than if it was just handed to her and if you have other children they will expect the same for them.

My parents gave me $500 towards my first car - 7 years after I passed my driving test. And that was only 10% of the cost.

Long story short, kids don't need their own cars. Hell, my parents hardly ever let me BORROW the car. I've been driving for 10 years now without a single accident, speeding ticket, parking ticket, or moving violation to my name. Unlike most of my friends, whose parent bought them cars - and then another one after they totalled it. Their insurance is through the roof - are you going to pay for her insurance, too? Not to mention gas money, registration, and upkeep.

I'm not a parent, but the first car I got when I was 16 was a 1994 Nissan Altima. My parents were able to buy it from my uncle for like 5000 dollars, but I had to help do groceries and drive my siblings places and stuff.

Well if you want the truth then you should get an older car in case she gets in a accident (not to be negative) but it happens.
So get a older used one and then in about a year or two if things go good give her a nice treat, as a reward for being a good driver.

get something big and slow and ugly. something that she cant pile a bunch of friends into is also good. an old elderly persons car is always the best, dependable, but not a racing machine. just make sure its new enough that it has airbags and anti-lock brakes. i wouldnt spend more than 2K or so and dont get hurt feelings about all the dents and dings it will get in the first couple of months.

My first motor vehicle value $975. I plan on procuring my daughter an older Volvo. i'd like to spend less than $4000 and placed her in something extremely chance-free. The above comments are authentic; the existence expectancy of a teen's first motor vehicle is amazingly short. IMO, a chance-free, decrease priced motor vehicle is staggering. shop the large funds and purchase her something efficient after college.

I think my parents only paid around 600 for my first car. We're related to a guy who owns a dealership though, so we got the car for what they paid for it. It was nice too.
