LeBron James was signed to a 3 year deal as a restricted free agent keeping him a Cavalier until 2010 when he is to become an unrestricted free agent. At that time, he is free to sign where he choses. he won't leave Cleveland as long as he wins at least 1 championship. He wont go to NY

Very few players stay with their same teams throughout their career. I can think of only a few players in recent memory that have played their whole careers for one team:
-Magic Johnson
-James Worthy
-Larry Bird
-Kevin McHale
-Reggie Miller
-David Robinson
-John Stockton
The one theme about those listed above was that they either were on championship teams or really good teams throughout their career. This leads me to believe that Kobe Bryant has a good chance at finishing his career in LA. Same with Tim Duncan in San Antonio. Kevin Garnett is still on that list but he will most likely leave after this season due to his team being nowhere near contending for the title.
The Cavs front office will need to build a highly competitive team to keep LBJ. If they can't then he's gone.

Yes If he wants to be more than a superstar on a old weak team and actually win some rings. Him and D-wade are good friends could you see those guys playing together.

its just a matter of time. he will leave the cavs, i guarantee it. he will want to go to brooklyn and play for Jay-Z. there is a reason why james only signed a 3 year deal compared to carmelo and wade and bosh who signed 6 yr deals. james is going to bolt especially if the cavs keep losing.

He wont leave by choice, but if the cavs get a great trade, they might let him go...maybe

yes.. signing a shorter contract extension shows that his options are open if the team will not succeed..
