I believe that only in the southern United States do they know how to make consistently good iced tea in restaurants. Even McDonalds or Krystals have good tea.

On the other hand, here in the North, it's rare to find good iced tea at even a sit-down restaurant. You certainly do NOT want to get tea from a McDonalds or White Castle (the northern version of Krystal). Many places just draw their tea from the soda machine.

Just curious to see if others agree with this generalization.

Thanks!

Dunno. Not crazy about iced tea. Maybe steaks but not iced tea.

Ok, I am from the north, am not a big tea drinker. BUt the one thing that I have learned here in the South is that the southerners love there tea. Especially sweet. I used to work for McDonalds both in the north and south and I can tell you that tea is made the same in both places. However in the south they make sweet tea. I was told that I made the best sweet tea, and I never made it before in my life, I just followed the McDonalds recipe is all. Also most places in the north are not equipped to brew large quanities of iced tea and it is easier for them to have it "on tap". Sorry, but I hope that this helps. Good Luck...

I think any kind of fresh brewed iced tea is better than the fountain. I'm a fan of McDonald's tea and Chick-fil-A's. I live in the Baltimore area and both places can make a good cup of iced tea.

Few sit down restaurants in the area (that I've been to) make a good sweet tea. So yes, I would agree with you!

We drink iced tea in the north, and most restaurants that I go to have it. However, the further north you go, the less likely you will be able to find sweetened iced tea. I am a purist Yankee and like my tea natural without the sugar. Just a difference is all.

I agree, iced tea is better in the south. However, it also depends on what type of iced tea you are used. People from California like myself may prefer tea that is not so sweet. If you ask for sweet tea in Cali they will not know what you are talking about. Different parts of the country serve iced tea differently. It's just pesonal preference.

Not really. Unless you like a glass of sugar with a little tea, leave that southern stuff alone.

I definitely agree. In the south we have sweet tea. Northerners don't serve sweet tea.

Yes, it is true. Sweetea (LOL, one word) is a tradition in the south. No one else knows how to make it well.

However, the bad news is that many places have begun to emphasize the sweet -- and put way too much sugar into it.
