Not often. Courts are maternal oriented which means the judges would rather award custody to the mother over the father unless there is concrete evidence proving mother unfit like child or drug/mental abuse. This has to be hard evidence like police or medical reports, and not hearsay accusations. Also a father can always petition the courts for a child custody/support remodification hearing if something comes up after the divorce is deemed final

My father had custody of my sister and I, after my parents divorced. They have to have a reason why the mother would be unfit to have custody of her children. If the judge finds that the father would be more able to care for his kids then he would get custody. If the child is of a certain age, I believe that the child gets a say on who they want to live with. But in a lot of cases parents get joint custody of the children.

Not very many times. It's because when you get a divorce to start with the court is against you, But you can get teh children anyway if you can prove some things about the wife. First depends on the judge if she forgets to show up at court for the hearing the judge will grant custody to you, or if you can prove that the Mother of the childen is unfit to take care of them. But watch yourself because you can get blind sided by thethe children's Grandparents, because knowint that their daughter is unfit they have a right to sue for custody too. So it's hard for guys to get custody but when it happens enjoy it.

Depends on many different things. The most decisive would be the arraigement between yourself and the ex. If the two of you can come to an agreement that would be most benificial to the kids. If your a good dad, 50/50 would benefit them the most. Kids have a right to be loved, and to love both their parents. I am a proud dad, but have an ex who is spitefull, and has made it her focus in life to keep me from my children as much as possible. Kids are not some sort of tool to be used as a way to hurt the ex. I wish my ex would grow up for our kids sake.

I am not sure what the actually odds are of that happening but I do know it is generally only in cases where the mother walks away, is mentally unstable, a drug or severe alcohol abuser or has been physically abusive....in other words, there has to be a really solid proven reason not to give custody to the mom....even at times to the childs detriment....

more often now than ever before. the male needs to show woman unfit (drugs, booze, insanity, etc.). the male must also demonstrate his ability to raise children (clean, neat home, job, place for kids to play, etc.).

You must prove that the mother is unfit. Unless you have VERY SOLID evidence, this is hard.
