My divorce lawyer is retired and my divorce decrea states that I get a % (HUNT FORMULA) of my ex-husbands TRS (married for 13 years). The TRS says I need a Quill-Dru in order for them to process my request and to be represented by a lawyer (first the % and then the request). My ex- husband passed away Jan 26, 2007 and I was divorced in 1995. The new law came into effect in 1999. The lawyer I called that took over my orginal lawyers practice says there is nothing that they can do for me because my ex has passed. How can I get what was agreed to in a court of law in 1995 with signatures of agreement? How many other women are in my situation? Why was I not notified of the change in the law?

You should be "grandfathered" in on this one. It sounds like the attorneys just dont want to be bothered by this. Just petition the courts on your own or with the helpof a Paralegal (loads cheaper and just as good) and explain the situation to the judge and let him figure out what to do with the decree you have.
