On my last OB appointment she found me 1cm dilated. She decided to send me to hospital tomorrow I'm so excited! They're gonna start my labour with some kind of gel.. and if nothing happens till the next morning they'll break my water. Is there any chance that with just the gel I'll go into labour? (I was 1cm dilated like 6 days ago.. could I be more now?)

Congratulations. Wow. Things sure have changed a lot.
I gave birth 22 years ago. To induce labor I was given a drug called Petocyn through an IV. Now they can do it with a gel? Fantastic!
I didn't dilate past 2 cm. I labored for 30 hours. Strong contractions every 2 minutes. Still I slept 8 of those 30 hours. Finally they said they needed to perform a c-section. I was upset because I wanted a natural birth. I believe if I'd been allowed out of bed to walk around I would have dilated to the full 10 cm need to push. Guess what? It doesn't make a bit of difference.
Everyone has a labor story. Soon you'll have yours and whatever you go through getting that baby here safe and healthy is all that matters!
I'D DO IT ALL AGAIN!
Congratulations! Relax and enjoy your new bundle of joy however s/he gets here it will be worth the journey!

The gel is supposed to put you into labor, and it might work (it does for some people). Be prepared, though, that it might not. I'm only telling you this because no one told me until I was in the middle of it and I was just stunned....

I had the gel, the next day they broke my water and I had the gel again. The NEXT day they put me on Pitocin and after 17 hours of really hard labor I dilated to 2cm... and then I had the c-section. I'm not trying to scare you, and probably everything will be just fine for you, but I wish someone had told me the possibilities before I went through it so I wouldn't have been completely blindsided when I was in such an unsure position already.

Best of luck, and congrats!

There is absolutely no telling, but congratulations because your many months of waiting are almost over!! When I had my first, my doctor told me on a Friday, "You're nowhere close; I'll see you back here next week." I gave birth (without being induced) two days later. With my second, I was scheduled to be induced, and then he was born on his own 15 minutes before he would've been induced. My third came five weeks early for no known reason. So, babies make their own schedules, but to answer your question, of course there's a chance you'll go into labor with just the cervical gel. You could go into labor ten minutes from now all by yourself; who knows?

Congratulations in advance!!

Not to try and freak you out, but the gel thing didn't go over well with me and I was 2cm when I got to the hospital......I got all the way to 5cm and stopped. I was in labor for 29 hours and then they said I had to have a c-section. When they put the cerva gel in it hurt like HELL! It was more like a razor blade being put in. It helps to take long deep breaths when they do it. They showed it to me first and it looked like a string with a little square paper on the end and I don't think she used enough gel to put it in. I really hope it goes better for you and I wish you lots of happiness with your new baby!!!

I had the gel and went into labour right away, but my water didn't brake on it's own. About three to four hours later they broke my water. Best of luck and congrats!

I don't know anything about cervical gel. I just know that tomorrow you are going to create one of the sweetest, life changing moments of your life. And the memory of it grows sweeter with each passing year.

I hope you took Lamaze. Keep your hands relaxed and let the contractions to all the work. Concentrate on your breathing and the seconds hands on the wall clock with each contraction.

You will be fine and God bless you.

RELAX! That's the best advice. The other advice I have: Don't let her induce your labor!!!!! Esp with Cytotec. That stuff isn't even FDA approved for inducing labor!!!!!!! That means it's BAD! When they induce there is more risk of complications, leading to c-sections. Your body will go into labor naturally.

Otherwise, just relax, breathe, don't let anyone talk during your contractions and stand up for what you want.

CONGRATS! It's a wonderful experience
