No only ones dealing with conspiracy theories and various urban legends. No one is doing any serous research on "aliens". There's not even a hint that they exist and are doing wheelies in our skies.

If you want something scientific - not that I'm closed to the idea of UFO's - look into SETI and the Big Ear - The big ear got one signal that was never completely explained called the WOW signal - I once spoke with one of the scientist involved in the project and his personal belief even though it can't be proven is that it was an intelligent signal.
Explore NASA's stance on the Mars rock - they have formally stated that they believe they have found fossilized Martian bacteria in the metorite and still stand by that decision. Life in extreme environments here on Earth has interesting implications for life in space and possibly in the solar system - you just have to appreciate single celled organisms as life - even if they don't land a saucer on the white house lawn. :)
Good Luck!

however, bear in mind that most information about aliens and UFO's remain classified, and are not available. it is unfortunate, but most astronomers refuse to comment on the issue for fear of prosecution, as there are very strict rules about dissemination of information regarding these events.
