fat boy far the best

The fat boy has the suspension hidden under the frame and looks a bit sleeker than a road king. It is a bike more likely to be ridden by people who like short trips and looking cool. Although some tough individuals have been known to ride them 5,000 miles in a week on vacation!

The Road King has air adjustable rear shocks and therefore rides smoother. There seem to be more accessories for the Road King to make it suitable for long haul riding. Large saddle bags for storage and a big trunk. There is a large windshield and even a full fairing with radio/CD and guages if you want it.

I have friends who ride in a group and both bikes are ridden on a regular basis. The best way to know which is right for you is to rent both bikes from a dealer and really get the feel of them. Most dealers have a four hour rental at a reasonable price so you could do both bikes in one day and take them over the same roads to figure out which one suits your needs.

Good luck....

The Fat boy is a smaller bike, at 6'3" 260lbs. The Fat boy felt, just to small for me. That's one reason why, I went with the Road King. The Road King is a wide open bike, great for the open road. But it's also a great bike, if your a big boy like me. For poker runs, or just cruising around. If your over 6 foot tall, or 200lbs. Or want to lay down some long hall mileage, go with the Road King.

Loverboy, You are going to hear pros and cons on both. American Rider magazine did such a test and included the Heritage Classic too . Just go to your local Harley dealer and test ride each bike for at least 1 hr.City,2 lane and interstate and see what fits you best. Myself I love the heritage Springer (99 model) and then they came out with the 88 B motors on all softails and rubber mounted 88 ci on the touring bikes . I have rode them all and I like the feel of the springs as opposed to hydraulic forks
