Why is it that west is mad at china for trading with Africa?

The west talks BIG GAME about China colonizing Africa. HOW IRONIC IS THAT WHEN THEY WERE THE ONES WHO COLONIZED AFRICA AND STILL DO IT! Personally, I don't think they want africa to rise up!

yea, the west complains of racism and bullshits and accuse china of colonising Africa, but they forgot how they threated the Africans as slaves and animals for trades, how they did large scale genocides on the natives(America), how they illegally took over the living places of the natives...and yes, China doesnt colonise countries it influences them, remember Cheng Ho of the mighty Ming dynasty, its invincible giant naval fleets could overtake the world if they wanted to, but they did not..

Not anything of the sort. China has mineral extraction rights as the primary investment they are doing in Africa. Africa will never rise up, too many factions with lethal intent. What will happen is this: china will get embroiled in all the chaos there and have to use their troops for one faction or another. Watch how it unfolds they will become the international bad guy very soon. The world is already calling on them to do something about Darfur. I think its all great. I hope China goes broke policing the world the way we have been doing.

It is ironic as Africa has been a whipping boy for many nations/Empire over the last century.

you are so right. i find western countries patronising and really hypocrites. They think we can forget that they never wanted to establish fair trade with africa, they were the first to start exploiting african resources. Now that China has seen the potential that is in the continent and has worked hard in establishing solid economic and political ties with several african countries, it threatens the position of western countries in Africa, and most importantly, put african governments in a strong bargaining position: whatever the west does not want us to have, we can get it it from China! China is the giant of the 21st century, so it is great time that africans start learning how to speak chinese and mandarin, and forget about french and portuguese.

It's true. We are America and we want to rule the world and anyone that doesn't do exactly as we want them to do will suffer the consequences (look at Iraq). We don't give a damn about Africa or how its people are dying everyday so why should we care if China is trading with Africa? Hell, we are China's biggest customer, we take all their sh**t and they don't WANT our crap.

I didn't know China had any interest in Africa. But, to answer your quesion, USA and UK believe they have a God given right to rule the world--they don't want someplace like China getting in on their action.

Truth is that it is china, not america a greater polluter in the world.
America has some standards for ecological safety, while china not (even inside china).

What they are doing in Africa - is irreversibele ecological and other damage.
