The wheel of history is impossible to turn back. That's why gays and lesbains are winning their struggle for equal rights. Sooner or later there will be a total victory. But for now gays are still discriminated against in many areas. In the US, the last bastions of homophobia are these:
1. Military
2. Sports
3. Musical programs on the radio.
Number 3 seems to be unexpected, but it is true: You will never hear a song on AM or FM radio, in which a man is singing about his LOVE for another man. Such songs are never broadcast. So, I think that this is one of the last frontiers of the struggle for equality. Do you agree?

Mellisa Etheridge has a song played on a lot of stations about lesbian love. I've yet to hear a man have one. There are out people in sports but most are closeted, same thing with the military.
Maybe the final frontier for gay people would be the space program? Imagine a gay astronaut.

Andy You're A Star by The Killers (an all male band) is clearly a gay song (the lead singer/writer admitted it a while ago) and wa played all over the radio when the killers were more popular. I think #3 is untrue. (although he is presumably bi as he is married to a woman). Then theres also Michael by Franz Ferdinand. i'm sure theres other, but this is just the type of music I listen to.
