I would read Exodus 15:22 to 16:36. Manna is explained fairly well there. I don't think that eating honey-tasting pancakes for 40 years in the desert is anyone's idea of fun. God gave them enough manna for that day only (Lord's prayer: "give us this day our daily bread...") to sustain them while they were wandering in the desert. They grumbled and quarreled before and after they received the manna it seems. Not an idealistic life to me.
I would check on a Jewish web site to see if you can ask questions about this. I would think a rabbi could give you the best answer to your question. Good luck in your search!

I don't know that there is much material on that particular subject.

Just remember this formula:

Renaissance art - 50% "prettiness" = Fairly close to reality.

(If Raphael painted it, it would be more like -150% "prettiness".)

In all seriousness, it stands to reason that they would have been tired, sick, injured, old, young, excited, depressed, lively, and many other things. After all, they were real people.

Think of how you would feel in that situation, then imagine how everyone you know would respond in that situation... you've just gotten a sample, more than likely, of the ways in which the Israelites felt.

God bless.

If you've ever been on a long camping trip, you'll know that washing is not really an option, at least not like we do it. Of course, since everyone had the same smell, no one noticed it after a while.

Any who had extra fat, would lose it. They would have strong leg muscles from walking all day.

We don't know how much historical truth is behind this story. I think you're wasting your time. It's like asking how the lady of the Lake could catch King Arthur's sword.
