It didn't need to be invented; it was apparent to all who cared to know by simply looking up at the heavens. Now if you're asking when the word "time" was invented, that would be right about the time that English was invented.
God bless.

Don't know, but the concept has not been universally accepted. I once waited outside a department store in Switzerland for over an hour in driving sleet and snow for a Nicaraguan friend, and my step son once told me he'd be there in half an hour. I asked him if he meant a Swiss half hour or a Turkish half hour. He said it was a Swiss half hour and turned up an hour later.
More disturbingly, the combined railway companies in the UK have also failed to accept the concept.

Languages all manipulate the concept. Something has happened, is happening, will happen. When was language invented? Chicken or egg?

WHEN living things, whichever living thing it was that had a consiousness, realised that the world was not constant and that things/objects/animals changed.
Thats what time is surely the changing of 'things'.

when we developed a memory, and could think of the past. that would be the point when it all began, but i doubt anyone could put a specific date or period to it.
