lots of questions.

1.) No you do not need an sd card to save. The SD cards do hold save games if you need it but there is an internal Hard Drive that stores downloads and game saves.

2.) The WII comes with wireless capabilities. If you arent already set up for it, i believe it has a ethernet port as well but im not positive as i am looking to buy one myself.

3.) Component doesnt improve graphic rendering, just smooths lines on the output making the game look cleaner. Graphically ther are the same but High Def does make it look better. Halo 2 is a great game to look at for a good comparison.

4.) Save your money. Nintendo always builds a incredibly sturdy system. Tests are done on all the consols when they are released. Violent tests such as sledge hammers and blowling balls. Nintendos system almost always work after a pretty severe beating. I read about a game boy for instance. Left out in the snow for 5 months, buried on accident. Found in spring and still worked great. so save your money on protection for the system. Its nintendo, you should be fine.
