No. That's why they're called myths not facts. Watch Mythbusters on the Discovery channel.

I guess the myth of the cyclops came from finding the skulls and skeletons of the wolly mammoth. Dragons were dinosaurs and alligators/crocodiles. Mermaids apparently are misidentified sea cows and other large mammals that sun themselves on rocks.
The theory with Vampires is that it came from natural things that happen after death and the weather. The body decays very slowly in the winter, so they'd dig up a body suspecting it was a vampire, see slight bloating and the natural seepage of blood from around the mouth and assume it had just 'fed'. Throw in the story of Elizabeth Bathory and Vlad the Impaler and you can grow quite a legend.
Aliens, well, I lived in California for 20 years. We have 'em everywhere out there. They claim to be normal people, but some of that behavior was NOT normal.

Not sure, but I think that all myths come from at least one fact.
Like, vampires have to do with events in history.. stuff like that.

Call a dragon a dinosaur. The legends of vampires is probably from a disease

A lot of myths of that type were started when people of old saw something they couldn't explain and exagerated the story a bit when they told everyone else.

Myth doesn't imply a lack of basis in truth. Most of our myths have some compelling basis at their root. It may not be entirely accurate, but generally there is some basis.

well it depends if you believe in that stuff but usually there is fact in mostly everything or you could just get a moral out of it that is sometimes fact but if you look hard enough into it you could find a fact.

None, but mermaids are thought to exist, but not as we portray them.
