to be homophobic"...that you know the question you'll be getting will be racist or homophobic?

Yes I agree with the idea if you start a question with 'I don't mean to be...' that you already know you are being that! However I can have some sympathy with those who feel the need to qualify their questions with certain disclaimers. I am never intentionally antagonisitc or insulting, but the amount of times I have asked a perfectly innocent question and had some of the most bizairre answers to it. To the point where I start questioning myself!

Yep, not only is the question/statement usually racist/homophobic but they really don't care whether it is or isn't. If they cared, they wouldn't ask that way or would find another, better worded way to ask.
The majority of them need a lesson in manners.

Yea. That happens every day in the south. Many people will start a statement like "I'm not racist but..." and then say the most racist thing you have ever heard in your entire life. It's sad really. Racism and homophobia is horrible.

Just because a question is about homosexuality and the asker is not gay doesn't mean that they are "Homophobic" . I would say your just over sensitive.
