1. You will need:
casting plaster
sand
water
paint and brush
plastic sheet or newspaper
a paper plate or a tray
containers for sand and water
red food colouring
baking soda
white vinegar
a funnel or a spoon
2. Cover a table with newspaper or plastic.
3. Put some sand in a container and add a little bit of water.
4. Use the sand to make a cone shape on the newspaper.
5. Put some water in another container and sprinkle some plaster into it.
6. Mix the plaster into the water until it is as runny as a honey. You may need to add more plaster to make the mixture thick enough.
7. Pour some plaster over the sand cone and smooth it with a wet paint brush.
8. Make a hole in the top of the cone about as big as a ten cent coin.
9. Let the plaster dry for one day.
10. Remove the sand from inside the plaster volcano.
11. Make more plaster. (See Steps Five and Six)
12. Put the plaster volcano on a paper plate and pour some more plaster into the plate so that the edges of the volcano are all covered.
13. Let this plaster dry for one day.
14. Make more plaster. (See Steps Five and Six)
15.Pour plaster inside the volcano. Stop at about 3 centimetres from the top.
16. Let the plaster dry again for one day.
17. Paint the volcano.
18. Let it dry.
19. Put newspaper on the floor and on the table.
20. Put the model volcano on the table.
21. Use a spoon or a funnel to put the baking soda into the hole in the top of the volcano.
22. Put a little bit of white vinegar into a container and pour in some red food colouring.
23. Carefully pour this mixture into the top of the volcano and move back.
24. Watch the volcano errupt.

The model below is an example of a simple, effective way to recreate a volcanic eruption.
Warning: Be careful when handling ingredients. Children should be supervised by an adult.
Ingredients should be kept away from the eyes.
Ingredients.
* small drink bottle.
* 60 ml water.
* 1 tablespoon baking soda.
* 1/4 cup vinegar
* orange food colouring
* few drops of dishwashing detergent
* small square of tissue
Making the eruption
Place the water, soap, food colouring and vinegar in the drink bottle.
Wrap the baking soda in the tissue and drop into the bottle.
The volcano will then erupt.
For extra realism
The volcano can be made more realistic by enclosing the structure in a home made play dough.
Mix 6 cups of flour, 2 cups of salt, 4 tablespoons of cooking oil, and 2 cups of water in a large bowl.
Mix the ingredients by hand until smooth and firm. Add more water to make the mixture if necessary.
Build up the mixture around the drink bottle to create the mountain.
Lava channels and vegetation can be built around the volcano.
The chemical reaction.
NaHCO3 + CH3COOH --> Na+ + H2O + CO2 + CH3COO-
Carbon dioxide is released creating the fizz.
Check out the sites below and I'm sure you'll find the experiment for you.

well, you could make a volcano shape mountain thingy. out of plaster wood, legos, or anyhting else that won't absorb water and stuff. then you could use the old vinegar and baking soda trick, btu if you really want it to erupt you could creat some sort of funnel at the top and point the tip of the funnel up, mix the stuff before hane in the volcano and quickly add top, then watch the fire works. i am pretty sure that that would work, you could even add food coloring to make it look more authentic.

Yes, lava is not just fire, it is thick, melted, liquid molten rock. When exposed to really cold water, it turns to hard rock. So some rain may have very little affect on inhibiting the volcano from erupting. Basically, you could put a fire out, but it's going to take lots of cold water to put a volcano out (if possible).

vinegar and baking soda (or powder, I can't remember which) should make for a good flowing eruption. You will have to tweak it a bit, say one cup of vinegar to one tablespoon. Try it out until you get the effect you want. You could put in red food dye to have it look red like the fire of flowing lava.
Or try dry ice for just the smoldering look.

make the volcano out of the stuff the first person mentioned, then pour red food coloring and baking soda inside it, then pour baking soda in when you're demonstrating it in class. it will erupt. but if you really wanna make it EXPLODE! instead of the coloring, baking soda, and vingegar, pour a red soda in first, then in class drop a mento inside. STAND BACK! it WILL shoot up 6 ft. in the air
