Get a piece of lettuce and rubber band it onto something that will keep it at the bottom of the tank ( a rock or decoration that is moveable). When you turn the lights out for the night, place the lettuce into the tank. In the morning it will be covered with snails. Remove it and either put the snails in the trash or take them to the fish store for their puffers or botias.

If you like botias (loaches) and your tank is big enough, get about 4-5 yoyo loaches. They don't get too big and are very social fish that will swim in the open a lot. I have 4 in a 29 gallon tank and throw all of my excess snails in there with them. I can toss in 100 or more and in 2-3 days I can't see any snails in the tank. The yoyos are voracious. Much better than the skunk or clown loaches that hide almost all the time and don't eat near as many snails.

That is a awful problem. I bought fish that must have had snail eggs on them or something, because I never bought any snails. They took over the whole aquarium. The guy at the fish store said I had to get rid of everything and start over. It was awful.

Get some fish like clown loaches that love to eat snails. They look good and the snails are devoured - it is win-win.
