I believe it may be "wrong word" or "faulty diction".

See http://www.eng.fju.edu.tw/etc/errors/symbols.html#Words

As the sentence is written, it doesn't read smoothly to me. If something "creates" or "causes" a fear, it doesn't usually make people respectful. Perhaps instead: "He also points out that the awareness of a possibile death penalty may create more respect for the law."

It'd be helpful if you shared the sentence and word. Some teachers have their own little abbreviations. I've actually never seen a d over a word and just did a search online and couldn't come up with anyhing.

Sorry Charlie "Charlie is always rejected in the form of a note attached to a fish hook that said "Sorry, Charlie." The reason given in the commercials for the rejection was that StarKist wasn't looking for tuna with good taste, but rather for tuna that tasted good."

Usually, an underlined letter is supposed to be capitalized, but i dont know of any proofreader's mark "d".
Was it a capital "D" and is asking to capitalize your letter d?

"Create" not "set." I don't know what the d means but you used the wrong word.
