There is a type of mail works in Egypt which means (registered) that means he take it by hand and no one else, but it takes the same time like normal mail which is about 1 month. If you have that system in USA do it.
Another safe choice is to send with DHL, EMS or any fast mail company that works in Egypt. Specially if you are sending something important or you don't like to lose it in the way.

It is not the NUMBER of stamps that it is required - it is the VALUE of the stamps. That will depend on the size of the letter - the weight of the letter - how you want to send it (air mail or surface) . No one can give you an accurate answer without seeing the letter - take it to your local post office where they will weigh it and then sell you the correct VALUE stamps (which may be one, two, three or even four depending on what values they have in stock) .....

If you're sending a regular size letter, you just need an international stamp. I believe they cost about 80 cents. Pick one up from your local post office and you'll be all set to send your letter.
