Ok, this is caused because the picture reference is not the same place where you have your picture stored on your server, for example, when you created your website u browsed your pc, and used a picture which was stored in the folder "My Pictures" so the tag would have been for example:

(this is just a random pic on MY pc)

The problem is your webpage is looking for that same My Pictures Folder, on your server, using the same location shown above.

What you need to do, is change your image reference to just picture.jpg, and get rid of all the folder stuff, this is assuming your pages and your images are stored in the same folder, so it should read

<"img src="picture.jpg"">

This is the best desription i can really give you on here, but if you need any more help email me : kinglee28@yahoo.co.uk

Hope this helps - Oh and it wouldnt do any harm to download the newest version of java just to keep everything up to date!

If you'd list some more information on what you were doing and what browser you were using it would help us greatly in identifying your problem.
Case 1: you're browsing sites on the internet with a browser and pictures wont show. Depending on the browser you'll see different default replacement images. This could be the result of broken links and the fault of the maintainer of the site you're browsing. If this happens on every site you view then its probably a browser setting (some browsers like opera allow you to turn off loading of graphics). Try using a different browser. If this doesn't help and some images load but the site takes really long to load try resetting your router by turning it off and back on.
Case 2: you're browsing sites on the internet and you've mistaken the box with the red x for images that didn't load when they were actually java applets, do what everyone else said and get the newest java runtime environment (jre) from java.sun.com
Good luck.

Ensure that you were using a relative link rather than an absolute link when you inserted the image on your webpage. I will assume you used FTP to upload the webpage and associated folder with them images to your website. If this is the case the only reason I could see you not seeing the images is that you have the incorrect hyperlink. Otherwise if the images are really memory hogs you might have a problem.

When that happens, generally the reference that "points" to the location of the picture isn't correct for some reason. If it's a site to which you go, they may have moved their picture files; if it's a site that you are creating, be sure you have the correct path, and that you have spelled it correctly, so that the site knows where to "look" for the pictures.

It actually depends on what program you are using, but...

...When building a site, make sure that the pictures are uploaded to the server. When viewing a site, make sure you have the updated version of Java.

just double check that the images didnt upload as .JPG instead of .jpg
there are 2 totally different things when it comes to a linux server and your code has to be in the exact same case as the files your linking to
