Yea my boyfriend is, an he is in a different country and has been for the past 2 years...and is there for another2! so mine is a very long distance But it can work...trust me!
We talk every night on the phone...and now on the net too! It is hard, don't get me wrong. i miss hI'm so much when he goes. But when he comes back its fantastic! And you can go and see him for a weekend...which will be fun! im going away to see mine!
You can also send letters and pictures to each other! But honestly they can work if you both trust each other, And if you both love each other enough to make it work, then it will! xxx

After 6 yrs in the Navy I started dating a girl I knew from years back - after a while we got engaged and duly married 18 mths later. Sadly, 6 wks after our wedding I was deployed to the West Indies for 13 wks. Hard ... yes, impossible ... no. During our engagement and the run up to the wedding, I was out of the country for 9 mths - I managed to turn up 3 days before the wedding to get a fitting for my suit!!
Yes it was difficult, yes your mind is in turmoil wondering what each other is getting up to (or not in a lot of cases). But you just have to trust each other as best you can. You don't say how old you are ...
If he's only just joining, he'll have a couple of months basic training with maybe a weekends leave or two, so it won't be as bad as you think, especially if you love each other as much as you say you do. The best advice I can give is to stay in touch with each other as often as you can ... phone, letter, text, e-mail ... whatever medium you can use. But don't over do it!

It will all depend on your boyfriend. There is a large drinking culture within the forces and that brings with it all sorts of problems. Also he will have the temptation of 'easy' females that make it their mission to get 'with' a squaddie. However if as you say you both love each other very much there should not be a problem.

My sisters boyf is in army.
They are very very strong together.
She is immensely proud of him & he totally appreciates the support she gives him.
They talk most nights on the phone, on MSN at the weekends when he has a spare hour & write eachother weekly letters.
If u truely love eachother it will work out for u.
U know the saying - absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Good Luck, Im sure u will be fine & u should be very proud of your boyf for serving your country xxx

i use to and so do a cpuple of my mates, I tried everything but just cudnt get it to wrk. my mates are also stiggling. Don't htink there is a way to make it work after you have been use to someone for so long being with you all of the time. If your still young why not just try being friends untill he comes out and then if you get together them fair enough, My advice don't put your self thru all the heart ache

You sound like you cannot stay true to this guy, so why waste
time asking for advice. Why don't you end it now before you
break his heart after all a long term relationships depends on
trust, there is obviously none in your relationship.Sorry to have
been so harsh.Remember that the truth always hurts

Oddly sufficient i've got in no way felt drawn to contributors of the army because of the uniform, yet i think that Frued did say that some persons are drawn to human beings in uniform as a "submissive factor" i.e. you experience delicate with a individual in authority.

My husband is in the british army - we have been married now for 8yrs, we just moved back to the uk after a 5 yr posting in germany. Its a brilliant lifestyle, i miss him loads when he goes on tour but it helps the relationship stay stronger i think.
It was a bit harder when i had my son 6yrs ago , but even then i think my boy is used to it.

As long as you both are true to each other, it will work.
Write to him when he is away from you & talk on the phone if possible.
It will be hard for both of you but give him your full support when he is away.
Good luck & best wishes to you both.
