Almost non-existent. There was a club and some other gay establishments in the colonial city of Santo Domingo but they have shut down due to religious picketers and raids by homophobic police. If you are gay and want to have a great time, go to Puerto Rico instead. San Juan (Condado and Ocean Park districts) has a huge and vibrant gay community and there are laws to protect gays from attacks and homophobia.

Very rare, at least out of the closet. Dominicans=Homophobics

We really do care. In "el ciabo" also known as Santiago we all one. just don't hold hands or kiss a man in the streets where everyone can see you because their some homofobic idiots out there

We Dominicans generally condemn homosexualism, so you won't see it as openly as you see it here in US.
