In Greek mythology, Pandora ("all gifted") was the first woman, fashioned by Zeus as part of the punishment of mankind for Prometheus' theft of the secret of fire. According to the myth, Pandora's temptation lead her to the opening of a container releasing all the miseries of mankind—greed, vanity, slander, envy, pining—leaving only hope inside.

a box that is supposed to have contained unhappiness, sadness, evil, and ageing. Before there were only kids on the planet but then someone opened the box and unhappiness spread across the world. There were never any problems on the earth before the box was opened but the boxes opening is supposed to be the blame for unhappiness.

Nothing. All the woes of mankind, and one little hope, were freed when it was first opened. From the looks of things in the world no one has been successful in putting any of those woes back in the box.
