The term Socialism" and "Communism" are forever blurred. Having some "socialist" programs or even being a socialist country is far from being Communist. Most people wouldn't know the differnce between Hugo Chavez-who is Communist, yet calls himself Socialist and Michelle Bachelet, Socialist President in a highly Democratic country, Chile.
And no, the Nazi Socialist Party was socialist in name only. You have to look past titles.
There's lots of mysterious lists out there: No Fly Lists, terrorist Watch lists, lists of political demonstrators! Call it a new McCarthyism.
I found this: In December 2005, major media outlets began reporting that a highly secretive component of the Department of Defense was accumulating and maintaining information on peaceful groups within the United States. The reports were a disturbing echo of an earlier era of unchecked and illegal government surveillance — an era when the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover infiltrated civil rights and peace groups, and the United States military maintained secret files on tens of thousands of American citizens.
This is from the ACLU, commonly called a "Communist organization" while it is only concerned with Constitutional rights.

Yeah, except "Communist" isn't harsh enough now. Now, if you don't agree with the government (ie: if you have a brain), you're a "terrorist" (or at least aiding the terrorists).
