I'm moving for work. The place I will be working is the Hopi Station Post Office, what "area" is this in (north, south, etc.)? And should I live in the city or a surrounding area? I pay $1000 a month in rent now and want to stay at that level.

Thanks!

I should mention that I'm single, so a one bedroom apt would work too.

Wow! One person says north, and one person says south. Who do you believe? Since you will be working for the Post Office you should know that their website lists the street address of every Post Office. Knowing the street address you could then go to Mapquest and see exactly where it is.

Actually both are right sorta. The Post Office is on the WNW edge of Scottsdale, across from Paradise Valley.

That's like south east Scottsdale. I used to live right by there on Scottsdale/Shea. If you are planning on paying $1000 a month in that area you'll be limited to 1 bedroom apartment. My 2 bedroom was $1150 after move in specials were pro-rated, (that was 5 years ago).

If you moved to Tempe, which is not far, you'd probably save close to $200 a month on rent and get a much nicer place for what you paid for!

Stay away from Mesa, it's ghetto.

(I could be wrong, but I this used to be my post office, it is Via De Ventura and the 101)

It's in north Scottsdale. A nice, newer area. Where you choose to live depends on what your priorities are. Do you have children? Are you single? Do you want a lot of privacy?
