Book your first night in a reliable hotel booked from overseas on a reputable website such as "cheaperthanhotels" or another. I'm not sure what your budget is, but prices start from US$40 per room, per night to the luxurious at $2-300 per night.
Try the Nizmar Resort which is located just 500 metres from the Calangute Beach - it's an international 3 star hotel.
Taxi's and rickshaws are measured in cents almost .... don't expect to pay more than $5 for more than an average journey ... rickshaws are around half.

You will get plenty of choice of hotels in Feb. North Goa is far busier with plenty to see and do. To be in the midst of everything i would recommend Baga, Calangute or Candolim.
A taxi from airport will be about £8.00. Airport taxis have set rates. Be prepared to be rushed as your come out of Goa airport, porters will just be after money, tell them firmly NO and hang onto your bags.
Have a great time, been 5 times, people are lovely, weather great REALLY cheap
We are going again in November for 6 weeks X

Decide which area of Goa you want to stay at.
When you arrive at the airport there are loads of taxis waiting outside. They are very cheap too. We stay in Baga a couple of times a year and always get a taxi there. Its about £7.
Go on Tripadvisor in the forum section when you have decided which area you would like to stay. Ask about accommodation on Tripadvisor and I guarantee you will get loads of replies.
In Baga, Anjuna, Calangute, Colva and Majorda there are loads of guesthouse just scattered about.
You can walk onto almost all the beaches and ask locals in the beach shacks about accommodation and they will direct you to some. There are loads of beach huts that you can stay in on the beach too. Ask to look at them first before you come to any decisions.
We fly out in 11 days and are going to stay in Baga, but we are travelling down to the south for a few days to stay on a beach somewhere. The prices per room for 1 night including breakfast are from £1.50 to £7.

If you need any info defo go on Tripadvisor, its brilliant and really helpful.
Good luck and enjoy, its the best holiday ever xx

yes easily. ask you taxi driver or simple walk around, you may want to get a few names of places before you go. i never book accommidation and always find good appartments for no more than £10 per night. If you are on the northern beaches like candolim, baga, calangute then never pay more than 50 rps to anywhere in the area. and from the airport to goa pay no more than 650rps.
