They are not against the troops winning. The are against more troops dying and money spend in a no-win position. Please explain how the USA has been winning these last years. I grew up during the Vietnam era. I had family and friends that went to war. It was the first war played out on television and immediate pictures send back to the papers and press. The draft was still in effect which means that all young men and potentially women (there was talk of it as I came of age) could be told to go to war. I find in my experience that most younger people today are fine with everything as long as it isn't them and love to cut down anyone that who has a different opinion but you don't have any different answers.
Are you even old enough to remember or know this? You don't have to live with the fact that you can be called to go at anytime? Why don't you join up and go fight instead of sitting around mocking others as if they do not care about this country or its troops?

It is not Democrats who are against our troops winning it is all of us, both Republican and Democrat.
The plain cold hard truth is that the only way to "win" in Iraq is a scorched earth policy, bomb them nuke them and kill them all and let god sought them out. The problem with that is that it goes so far against what we believe as a people that we cannot and should not do it. "What profit a man if he wins the whole world and loses his soul" applies here to our country. We would lose the soul of America if we allowed our troops a victory on the battlefield.
Now that is not to say that the idea of brining the troops home and simply pulling out is correct either. Weather we like it or not the current administration duped the whole country (and support for the war when we thought that they had WMD was very high) and we went in and tore apart the country of Iraq we now have a MORAL imperative to try to make it better. I just wish there was an easy answer
Winning is not possible under the terms that American can and should stomach
Leaving shows us to be even more morally bankrupt; every death that occurs after we live is twice as much on our heads as those that occur while we stay
We are in the perfect lose lose situation and while I am surely not able to tell us how to get out of it, I can tell you that continuing to pay the same old. "Democrats hate America and Republicans only care about oil" games that got us there in the first place are bound to fail and make the whole thing worse
You want victory in Iraq first step is to stop thinking as a Republican and for me to stop thinking as a Democrat and for ALL OF US to start thinking like Americans
Our founders gave us some lofty ideals it’s about time we started to live up to them again!

The failure of our troops translates into political gains for them. It seems they would rather root against America instead of coming up with solutions and winning elections on ideas and not on rhetoric.
The sad thing is many of them believe that they are helping the troops. The truth is that subversive comments destroy moral. Period.

When are you people going to wake up to the fact that our troops have won the war in Iraq!
We cannot win the Civil War in that country, they must fight it out among themselves. We have no duty to help either side in this battle. Our troops are still there because of the utter mess we have made of the country. We want to help them get back on their feet & we are making strides in that direction. The Democrats want to bring the troops home but know we can't leave Iraq in the mess that our country has made all because of lies told to both houses & the country.

A civil war with sectarian violence with oil at stake.
I guess Darfur is out of the question because that is exactly what is going on there. China is drilling for oil there right now.
If we pull out of Iraq, no one will join us in Darfur. But let's not think ahead about long term consequences.

What is winning? You cannot bomb into submission. No American is against the troops they are there to do as they are told. You should be ashamed of yourself for such a claim but that is OK we are all raised differently.

I guess in the Military it is more honorable to win then it is to live. Perhaps that is something that most can not understand. Winning is everything in the Military, you follow the orders you are given, be they wrong or right.

The liberals have organized mass protests against the death of soldiers across america. Sounds like to me that they're supporting them much more than the reps

What price does a "win" come at, and who pays? Who really "wins"? Answer those. Put yourself in another's position. BEWARE GENERALIZATIONS. They are exactly why relations between the two parties are so tense.
