does anyone know how to unstick a thinkpad t40 numlock?

When turned on and go into office 2003 the JKL keys print 123 and the num lock key has no effect on the situation. Does anyone know how ot fix this problem?

Shift Numlock (on the ScrLk key).

it's like click on, click off.
