Do you think that the three punches were dirty? I dont. I think they were good hits, it is part of the game, and he just happened to be knocked out and had a skull fracture.

that petrovicky is an awesome player. he is a tough dude. he took some dirty hits in a montreal game, getting his head slammed in the boards. ever since then, his game has stepped up a notch or two.

plus i watched sportscenter and that guy had a pool of blood under is head after smacking his head off the ice. is was so awesome.

I had never heard of Petrovicky until that fight. Unfortunately for hockey fans that enjoy fighting the Bambie lovers will be in full force to ban fighting after that one. The worst part is the crowd was in complete silence while they tended to Newbury and many fighting opponents will say it takes away from the game. My question would be why did the two pair up late in the 3rd period of a tied hockey game? That part did not make sense to me. I like fighting in a game as much as the next guy but there is usually a time and place for it. That is why they don't fight much in the playoffs.
As a Leaf fan I don't want to see my players get hurt but Newbury did not get a skull fracture as you said. He was injured the worst when his head hit the ice not from the punches he received in the fight as many people have said. He was coherent and the next day he said Petrovicky called to see if he was ok which I thought was cool.
Back to the question I think the fight was fair. Both players squared up,dropped the gloves and got in some good hits until Petrovicky released the bombs. I don't think any tough guys will underestimate him now.

They said that the hospital did tests showing NO Neck or Skull injuries. They were clean hits. It was a fight. Well of course he is going to hit the guy. So the first blow was hard enough to knock the helmet off, what is he supposed to do stop the fight. Perhaps he should have taken his helmet off as well. Anyone who calls that dirty probably wasn't watching or is a Leafs fan.

Nothing dirty whatsoever both players dropped their gloves and something unfortunate ended up being the result. Newbury got a few hits in but just took one punch in the wrong spot and the lights went off.

They were not dirty punches, it is part of game. If you are going to get in a fight you need to know that there is a chance that you can get beat up real bad.

Oh my, quite a beating, did you see the blood trickle out of his mouth? Nothing dirty about that, just a brutal combination of punches.
