How do you know the pump is faulty? To check that the pump is going round when you switch to heating mode, take out the large screw in the centre of the pump and just touch it with something to feel it going round. Check the fuse to the pump Check that the water valves either side of the pump are open

Call a licensed Heating and Air professional. There are a multitude of reasons why heat quits working. If this is a heat pump, these are very sophisticated pieces of equipment, all the more reason to call a service person. Also, a heat pump system should have an auxiliary heating system, most commonly, electric heat strips inside the indoor blower or furnace unit. Some installations have what's called a 'dual fuel' system, that utilizes a gas furnace for auxiliary or emergency heat. If you can't get the auxiliary or emergency heat to come on, and your temperatures are below 30 degrees, it's not your heat pump itself.

You haven't given us much to work on ..If you have a gas boiler..check if the pilot light is working first..if you have an electric switch with the boiler see if its switched on..once you've done that check the start button..to see if you can get the pilot light to work..if it is working .and goes out then it is the flow of water..check the water pump when the switch is on ..if you can hear it humming it is working but maybe not turning .give it a little tap with something to see if it releases the pump to turn..(not a sledge hammer)..If this is turning it could then be an air block ..Bleed the radiators.by turning the key at the top where there is an air release.(you may have to buy a key from the hardware shop..)once the air has been released and water starts to come out turn the key to close it..okay but apart from that get some-one who understands boilers...

To check your pump, get a screwdriver and put the metal end on the pump and the other end to your ear. You should hear the pump going if the boiler is on. Is there water in the system ?If pump is okay, must be a problem else where, but you don't say what type of boiler you have. Is it a Combi?

Not sure I understand the question....but definitely get your landlord on it...if you are in the UK (and I think you might be because you said flat) is it soo cold there right now. Depending on the kind of heating you have, it could be many things...wish I could be more specific for you...but this is the best I know...

check there is enough pressure in the boiler - there be a guage on the front of the boiler - if it falls below a certain level the heating won't work - there should be a valve somewhere where you can top up the pressure.
