People with cats, please answer?

In the past few days, our cat has started pooping beside the litter box on the bathroom floor. My husband is pitching a fit. Any idea why he might be doing this? The litter box is clean and he's always used it before. He's 7 months old. Thanks!

Your cat might have grown a little too big or so he thinks for the litter box you have, I have 3 cats right now but I've always had cats in my life. What I always do when this happens is change the size of his litter box. I have no idea why suddenly they think they're too big but then again I'm not a cat.
