Gun ownership (specifically handguns) in the USA: does the percentage of gun owners vary considerably from State to State? For instance (and this is just for the sake of an example), does everyone in state A carry a handgun as a part of the culture, whereas it is considered unusual and antisocial to even own one in state B? Or is there a pretty even spread across the country?

Is handgun ownership illegal in any state?

Is there somewhere where I can look (in brief) on the gun laws of each US state? It's for a project we're doing.

Thanks!

I would suggest going to www.packing.org or www.opencarry.org I know open carry has a handy map on the homepage that allows you to click on a state and see its gun laws (mostly pertaining to open and concealed carry). I know California and New York are some of the most strict on any type of gun ownership; and I believe (not 100% sure) that D.C. has an all out ban on firearms.

Remember gun ownership is a RIGHT not a privilege. The Second Amendment is supposed to protect that right, but alot of people don't believe that. And thus we have outrageous gun laws that leave law abiding citizens defenseless and criminals well armed (because as criminals they don't care if a gun is illegal, that is why they are criminals).

Hope I have helped a bit

Illinois is the closest to it being illegal. There are still a few states that violate the constitution and ban law abiding citizens from carrying. Legal ownership is a little sporadic. There are more in states that respect the constitution as opposed to those that treat their citizens' as subjects, like New York.

I think that it varies state to state. There is a city in my state that requires -by law - that every household has a gun. Some states have laws that make carrying a gun easier than in other states. I don't think you would see gun ownership as being antisocial or unusual in any state.

all people buy a level of home security
laws to protect each of us from the other vary from state to state and have no uniform control, black market guns are the worst future America has in, internal freedom verse internal snipers, snipers is a assassin who can shorten hi-power to just enough to be invincible, Texas walking armed, Indiana has carrying opportunities and all the police are up to their necks in any given moment they could take their chances to get better than what they got, for most parts each of us are paranoid enough to leave it alone but some are going to make being a bully the easy button of choice

I personally think all women should own a handgun for self defense and protection, and the lawmakers should grant them the priviledge and deem them inteligent wise to possess one. and if not a handgun some other form of weapon such as mace.

otherwise every state has their own laws, some states are stronger than others....it's the purpose of owning a handgun that any state should be granted legal to possess them (as in what it will be used for).
