Ok, Well I want to change My name to "Burt". I know it's a guys name, But everyone calls me that, My original name is "Brandy".
I was wondering if they'd let me change my name to a guys name, which is "Burt".
Oh, And also..I want to change my last name...Will they let me change my last name? I REALLY do not like my last name because it's too long and people cannot pronounce it well, I want to change it to "Vile" because it starts off with the same letters as my original last name. So, Do you think they would?

i would say it would depend on your age and the state you live in. i am in process of changing my sons last name since he had my last name and i was recently married. if you are over 18 and go to the court where you reside it should be as easy as filling out some forms, paying their fees and having the judge grant it. it also will not matter if it is a boys name. good luck

It depends how old you are. I think when you go to get your drivers' license for the first time, you will be asked to write your name the way you want it to appear on your license (at least that's how they do it in Jersey). But if you don't want to wait until then (assuming that you're not 17) you can always ask your parents to legally alter your birth certificate, although I doubt they will let you change your name unless you're married. I think Brandy is a pretty name though.

I know that you can def change both your names. If you're under 18 you need a parent/guardian with you to sign some things but I dont see why you couldnt. :) good luck burt

Maybe it's a lot in the USA. I did it in Australia and it cost almost nothing. Just fill out some forms, and pay the fee and the registrar office posted out the documentation in a couple of weeks.

Well...legally, I believe you still keep that name. I can change my name, cuz I have a Chinese name...but the name the govt has I think is my Chinese name...I don't think they'll let you change your last name though. I'm not sure.
