Ignore the people who don't have any experience with this. Are you breastfeeding? If so that can affect her bowel movements, unless she went from really regular bowel movements to this she should be fine. A little bit of Karo syrup in her bottle or juice (though 2 months is young for juice) should help. Call your child's pediatrician tomorrow morning for an appt. to discuss possible causes and treatments if this continues. She should be just fine. My niece only went once about every 5 days and the doctor said it's normal for breastfed babies. I'm not as sure if it's the same for formula fed, I doubt so because once she started formula at 4 months she started going everyday. Most doctors office have a nurse on call 24 hours for these exact questions. Give them a call if you are still worried. Unless she is acting constipated or in pain she is more than likely just fine.

Is she exclusively breastfed? Some breastfed babies can go many days without a poop. Breastmilk is such a perfect food for them it leaves very little waste/residue. If it is over 1 week for a breastfed baby I would check with the Dr, public health nurse, or a Lactation Consultant just to make sure she is ok. I had the same concern but my baby is fine...he poops anywhere from every 2 to 7 days. My Lactation consulant told me that Dr Jack Newman's (he is a Canadian breastfeeding specialist...he is awesome and has a great reference book for breastfeeding mom's if you are interested. He also has a website with lots of great info...Google his name and you will find it) record for an exclusively breastfed baby with no poops is 30 days...and the baby was fine.
Does your baby have any other symptoms? Is she gassy, feverish, irritable or seem very uncomfortable? These are all things the Dr or LC will want to know.
If she is formula fed, then call the Dr...I think formula fed babies are supposed to go more often than breastfed babies.

I think it depends on if the child is breastfed or formula fed. When my son was 1 1/2 old, he didn't poop for 4 days. I called me pediatrician and he said that it was normal because he was breastfed. He said sometimes breastfed babies don't poop for a week. But, it's different for formula and things might have changed in the past 3 1/2 years. So, I would call your doctor and see what he/she says.

First of all, you ARE NOT a bad mother. I have SEVERAL friends who have gone through this with their children. The doctors say a baby can go up to 10 days without a bowel movement. Are you breastfeeding or using formula? If you're using formula, you may need to switch to a different kind.
Here's what you can try before you panic and go to the doctor. You can try stimulating her rectum with a little bit of vaseline and your finger. You don't insert your finger, just rub it gently and this will probably help stimulate her to go. Good luck!

No it isn't normal. You need to schedule an appointment with her pediatrician. She should be going on a somewhat regular basis, even if it is only every two days or so.
5 days is quite extensive with a child so young. It is possible that she is constipated, but she would most likely be showing signs of distress and uncomfortableness if she was, but that doesn't mean that she is not. You need to get her to a doctor immediatly. If you've been keeping track of how much, when, and what she eats take that with you because it will be necessary to look over that. But go to her pediatrician, it could be something serious and she may not be digesting food properly.

you do no longer could desire to grant her something yet breast milk, breastfed infants can bypass as much as ten days without pooing. My daughter purely is going some million or 2 situations a week for sort of four months now. After 10 days take your infant to the well-being care expert. good success.

It is normal for a formula fed baby to go 3-4 days and a breastfed baby to go up to 7 without pooping. Unless she seems to be in pain, leave her be.
The ONLY way to diagnose constipation in a baby is to see the firm/hard stools or to have a doctor preform an exam.
Breastfed babies are basically NEVER constipated, it is very common for formula fed babies though.

hi there all these people are wrong uneducated fools who should not comment unless they really no its normal for babies this young to not have a bowel movement for 2 weeks are you breastfeeding?
if you are the milk is just right for your liitle baby so everything is used up properly in there body there are no waste materials.
if your formula feeding its still ok to go a little while is your baby acting constipated or crying more then usual do you see her straining or anything if not all is good and its totally normal for babies this young.
if you suspect she is constipated and your formula feeding try giving her some cooled boiled water.
like i said though its totally normal dont listen to these other jerks.
goodluck

I think that happens to all babies, my two nephews both went a few days without pooping when they were younger, now 3 and 1 it doesn't happen anymore. the child needs something to help them, my mother used to give one of my nephews freshly squeezed orange juice, even though he was maybe a bit too young for it but it helped him. then again all babies are different, just take her to the doctor, it's better to be safe than sorry

I don't know if you need to go to the doctor -- but I would definitely call and ask about it. Five days seems like a long time to go without a bowel movement.
