I am in California.
I wanted to open a restaurant. (haven't open one before, but I know a chef who currently working in a restaurant, and she will work for me and help me to run it). I talked to the mall management and negotitated for a lease. They asked me to show my business plan before further discussion.

Please tell me the resource, the steps that I would need to write a business plan. (I haven't seen one before). If you can point out a web site is also helpful

If you haven't seen a business plan before, then it will be most helpful if you can see an example of a business plan (preferably a restaurant business plan since that is the business you plan on opening)

The first part will be your Executive Summary. On this page, you want to get your message across quickly. It will summarize the next 20 pages... or so.

Then, you go into great detail of what your business plan is. Who, what, where, when, why, what experience do you have? How are you going to be different? Are you going to be different? How much money do you need? Supply information on how you calculate the the money you need! How many employees? Do you know how many and much taxes you need to pay? Do you know when to pay taxes? Can you work with a budget?

You need to answer all of this and more. Don't forget SWOT!! Your Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats.

Google "business plans" and swot for more information.

When you're done... you should have no less than 15 pages. Don't forget to add your resume!

You will also need a very good Excel spreadsheet showing your expected Sales, Expenses, est. taxes, etc.!

Good luck!

You can buy low-cost computer programs like Business Plan Pro that will help you put your business plan into an acceptable format. You'll need some marketing research to support your numbers. (Banks and investors don't give out money on guesses) You won't have this done in a week, I promise you. Once you've completed your business plan, have it reviewed by an accountant to make sure all the numbers line up. If they don't, you're not going anywhere.
