An acquaintance is someone you've met and might interact with from time to time, but who you wouldn't classify as a friend, coworker, family member, peer, classmate, etc.

The person that you know and interact with without considering them a friend is correct. There is also a familiarity with a subject, set of ideas or circumstance which you are familiar with because of experience. Like having some acquaintance with loneliness.

I can only think that she misspelled the word "acquaintance" which means "knowledge greater than mere recognition but less than intimacy". Does that help?

An aquaintance is someone you bumped into, a friend that isnt so close, like a best friend, it could be considered as someone you know, but dont know all that well.

It means a person who you know (like you could identify them if they walked past you) but not enough to really have any opinion about them.
