my sentenence is ,This smooth lining is often called the pearly layer.

adj. describe nouns, adv. describe verbs, in the sentence smooth and pearly are adj. and it is usually adv. that end in -ly....like if you said "she quickly ran away" quickly is the adv. because it is describing the verb which is ran....got it :)

Adjectives describe nouns and adverbs describe adjectives and verbs. Often is the only adverb in the above sentence. Smooth and pearly are describing nouns

Just a tip. Most adjectives end in -ly. Like quickly, knowingly, seriously...
