What's the difference between a World and Olympics?

What i'm saying is that there's huge difference in titles, but what's the real difference? Both have different countries competing against each other.

Yeah,I have the same question too.Olympics have more honour.It derives from ancient & glory times. Probably people had a (pride) problem (because the Olympics derive from Greece)& made another compretition which serves the same purpose but it's "their" idea.
