I have some jeans that either have a tear in the knee area and right above my back pocket, how and what is the best way to patch it up? I saw iron on patches at walmart but how do i successfully iron it on and patch it up correctly? on the knee part, do i iron it on the front of the pants or do i turn it inside out and iron it on there? How about the back pocket upper corner part?

thanks

One side of the patch is smooth and the other side is jean material. It says lay the smooth side down and iron over it. If i flip my jeans inside out and cover the hole with the patch and iron over it and then i flip it back right again, the smooth iron on side will be showing out of the hole? But if i dont flip it inside out and iron over it, the patch will be on the outside....what to do?

P.S. so the holes on the back pocket are done for? Thats terrible. Its a small hole but i dont want it to get any bigger...

those iron on patches look super dorky
find some really cool fabric like jacquard, depending on the size of the hole in the knee you might have to put a dart in the patch, finish the top and bottom of the patch and sew just the sides to the seams inside of the leg with the pretty side of the jacquard showing thru the hole, baste or pin it first and try jeans on before you sew it to get exactly the right fit, the patch should be just a tiny bit bigger than you think it should be to look right when you're done. For a small hole pin the pretty fabric on the inside and sew all the way around about ¼ inch from frayed part of hole.
above the back pocket, pin some fabric to the inside and then zigzag stitch back and forth and up and down until it is secured really good

The iron on patches are a great solution! and they come in different colors and you can also cut them into different shapes. Or , go to a fabric shop and ask for some wonder under (I believe that is the name)--a double shided tacky paper you can iron on to fabric. Then you could get a really cute print and patch the holes that way. Or, just leave the holes the way they are unless you are over exposing yourself. I thin torn jeans are still "in". Or, (gee don't I ever stop??!) mend the tears with embroider floss in an adlib design. There are also some pretty appliques avail in different sizes. Have fun!!!!! Use your imagination! You may start a trend!!
Good luck!

A rip around a pocket or seam is probably done for.But on the knee is easy.Turn inside out.Apply patch, sew around patch for security. If you can manage a patch around a pocket or seam and then sew it(by hand or machine)your doing good.
Good luck.

when you're patching wtih yet another cloth, i imagine it appears that evidently more beneficial advantageous in case you position the patch on the in the jean. this resources a assessment with the jean cloth. you should use fabrics glue to attach on the patch or stitch it on. that is all about your decision.

you turn them inside out and then iron on the patch thing. you could also just sew the knee part (use patch on back pocket) i've never tryed a patch on the knee part... just follow the instructions on the package.. good luck!

ok, you buy a peice of clothing just like a little patch, then you sew it on with needle and thread, and then, WHALA, you have a pair of patched jeans, good job!!

It's better to do it on the inside of the jeans.
