It should not be held against David Cameron. He did not chose his parents who sent him to Eton.

I'm just wondering which British Prime Ministers actually DIDN'T go to a single-sex school. I'm not too sure about John Major or Tony Blair, but all before them would automatically have been educated in a single-sex school.

Of course, the charge of "elitism" is always levied against any system of selective-education; whether it be because of money or ability, but educational standards have certainly fallen since the introduction of the comprehensive-school and the current culture of dumbing-down.

The old grammar school system could often rival the best educational standards achieved in the public-schools, and many very great people have emerged from them.

Yes, I would because I would prefer an educated Prime Minister (Blair being the exception to the rule). I think that the UK is the only country in the world which regards 'elitism' as a slur. Other ocuntries admire education.

Sure why not. You would probably vote for a female who attended an all girls school just because she was a women. This is the same old theory that just because a person attends a certain school that hey are not qualified. Discrimination in any form is wrong.

I wouldn't vote for David Cameron because he's a Tory;
but ultimately inverted stobbery comes from the same place as conventional snobbery meaning its just as damaging. He can't help his upbringing like so many people. I'm a working class student at universitiy surrounded by well off students; but as much as I've experienced snobbery from the well off students, Ive also experienced inverted snobbery from people from my home town who can't cope with class mixing.
Some of the most down to earth people I've ever met are rich, not just poor because they havn't had it as easy as you'd think, money doesnt give you everything
God help us if we're all judged on our upbringing.
