According to Descartes, I think therefore I am (cogito ergo sum). What the hell does that mean? I am what? If I think I'm a baboon, then I am a baboon? Why is this phrase being quoted everywhere although it bears so little significance?

Or is there like something else behind the phrase?

Change the final "I am" into "I exist and have a place here (wherever you are)" that will help you to see its beauty.

The delight in the phrase is that it is so succinct.

It's saying that if you have the ability to think, than you can confirm the fact that you, and your conciousness, exist.
