I wouldn't, it will be fine without food for a day, fish can go for a week without food and still be healthy and can sometimes live without food for a month or more, but that's not very healthy.
when they ship fish they don't feed them the day before they ship them and however long they're shipped for or else they'd dirty up the water a lot with fish poop.
so really, no worries. it will be fine for a day without food.

It's okay for one time, but there are better foods to feed goldfish. First, goldfish do not need to eat every day. They are perfectly fine going two or three days without food. It is better to underfeed goldfish than overfeed them. Next, goldfish need, as a part of their regular diet, for their health, a variety of veggies and fruits. So, if you feel you need to feed your goldy today, try giving it dark green lettuces (not iceberg), spinach, fresh or frozen shelled peas, cucumber, broccoli flowers, chopped boiled eggs, oranges, kiwis, grapes, etc. They love this stuff and it's good for them! Just remember to remove any uneaten food. And it is a better idea, when you go to buy your goldfish food, to buy the one for color enhancement instead of for growth, as we really don't want to encourage our goldies to grow too fast in our aquariums. They need enough water as it is! lol! And, remember to soak your flakes or pellets before feeding so that it doesn't swell in their little tummies and bloat them. Good luck with your new goldy and please read up on how to properly take care of it, i.e., 10 gallons of water per fish, water cycling, water changes, etc.

yes, that's fine for a while. Betta fish food is mostly bloodworms and fish meal with corn, wheat, and marigold. Nothing goldfish can't eat.
